The short version

TheftRadar uses the information you provide to run accounts, map theft reports, deliver alerts and messages, process payments, and moderate the service. Public reports are intentionally public, but exact home enrollment details, passwords, private messages, and payment-card details are not published. RadarVault property records and ClaimRadar case workspaces are private account features and are not placed on public maps or public report pages.

Information we collect

  • Account details such as email address, display name, password hash, membership status, and account role.
  • Theft and lost-and-found report details, including descriptions, identifying numbers, dates, approximate or exact locations, routes, photos, videos, reward information, and police report numbers you submit.
  • Protected-home enrollment details, including the address, map point, alert radius, and safety features you choose to display.
  • Private RadarVault records and ClaimRadar case data, including property identifiers, purchase information, policy and claim numbers, incident details, evidence files, and loss expenses.
  • Messages, tips, flags, agency-verification requests, and other content you send through the service.
  • Basic technical and security data made available by your browser or network, such as IP address, request time, device/browser information, and authentication cookies.

How we use information

We use information to provide search and maps, show and manage reports, send requested alerts and account emails, support recovery conversations, verify agencies, prevent abuse, enforce these terms, diagnose failures, and improve TheftRadar.

What becomes public

Content submitted for a public report may appear on the public map, lookup, category, state, city, reward, caught, or lost-and-found pages. That may include item details, identifying numbers, uploaded media, dates, and a mapped location. Do not submit information you do not have the right to publish. TheftRadar may reduce location precision or hide sensitive evidence in public views.

Private vault and claim records

RadarVault and ClaimRadar records are available only through the account that created them and are not published through the public theft-reporting surfaces. We use these records to store, retrieve, organize, print, and delete your private property and incident documentation. If you use report delivery, TheftRadar sends the selected report and optional evidence files to the one email address you confirm and keeps a delivery ledger containing the destination, report type, delivery status, consent time, and send time. Authorized service operators may access stored data when necessary for support, security, abuse prevention, or legal compliance. Do not upload material you do not have a lawful right to retain or share.

Service providers and disclosure

TheftRadar uses service providers for hosting, mapping and geocoding, email delivery, and payment processing. Stripe processes card payments; TheftRadar does not store full card numbers. We may disclose information when reasonably required by law, to protect people or the service, to investigate abuse, or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell personal information.

Cookies and security

Authentication cookies keep you signed in and protect account-only features. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no internet service can promise absolute security. Use a unique password and report suspected account misuse promptly.

Your choices

You can edit or remove supported account content through the site and may request access, correction, or deletion by emailing [email protected]. Some records may be retained when needed for fraud prevention, legal compliance, payment records, dispute resolution, backups, or enforcement. Public copies already shared or indexed elsewhere may take time to disappear.

Children and changes

TheftRadar is not directed to children under 13. We may update this policy as the service changes and will revise the date above. If a change materially affects how existing personal information is used, we will provide an appropriate notice.

Questions about public reporting and service limitations are also covered in the Terms of Use.
